According to Verizon, the Xoom’s Flash support is “expected Spring 2011”, and not when the tablet goes on sale on this coming Thursday (24 February.)
The flash delay wouldn’t be quite so bad if the Android collective hadn’t all had a chuckle at Apple's lack of flash.
Motorola will be selling the Xoom in the UK but since the tablet isn’t expected here until some time in Q2, it should have Flash on board by launch time.
If it hits our shores without Flash, Motorola could be in deep water. Toshiba’s first tablet, the Folio 100, was dropped by exclusive UK seller Dixons because it didn’t have Flash, which according to retailers is essential for UK sales success.
Hopefully for Motorola, US consumers will rush to by the Xoom regardless of its flashlessness and will wait nice and patiently for its release. But it has to be said, why should they?
I wish companies would just wait until products were fully complete and tested before release. We pay enough money for our gadgets to expect the best from day one.
Imagine buying a car and getting the wheels a month later…
