If Apple is serious about their intention to corner that portable gaming market, they need to come up with something special to take on the good ship Nintendo.
Whispers originating from the land of the rising sun suggest that Apple is readying an iPod Touch that will come with glasses free, stereoscopic 3D display.
A source within the company, which supplies Apple's displays told Japanese Apple fan blog, Macotakara that the company is ready to manufacture glasses free 3D displays for the iPod Touch.
The display is reported to look similar to a touchscreen 3D LCD panel developed by Sharp, which works in both horizontal positions.
Apple have made several patent related to 3D in the last five years, but is yet to produce any 3D capable devices.
Macotakera has speculated on the current rumours in conjunction with another existing patent for camera-based face recognition and head position tracking, and produced the following mock up of the new iPod Touch's gaming capabilities.
Apple's quarterly figures have been showing large increases in the sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs; however the iPod is falling in the amount of units that are being sold.
This could well be the reason that Apple are looking into 3D, the launch of Nintendo 3DS will no doubt effect sales of the Touch and 3D might be only way to prevent the slide in sales in the future.

128gb touch with 3d seems apple are thinking right prehaps a upgrade with the camera , it seems right they need a little somthink that the iphone does not and seening how this is not goin 2 be a camera then why not 3D
I hape they do make a 3d ipod touch, because it will be different and would be gr8t 2 watch movies in 3d especially step up 3 in 3d.
so u could feel you are there and live watching thenm street dance, break dance :)
also i hape they say if there makeing a 3d 1 soon beacuse if they are i would just w8t till that 1 came out or if not i would go buy the ipod touch 4 :)
