Facebook has redesigned its News Feed and has added some filtering options too. With new feed, now you can choose the areas from which you would like to see the feed. The layout has been changed from list to drop down menu. The menu offers feed from Status Updates, Games, Links, Pages and Photos. You can choose to turn the feed on or off from any of these fields.

If you want, you can also add your own groups to the drop down menu and receive feeds from it. With new design, you can also control the number of stories you see from a particular source. This can be done by accessing the Live Feed settings.

Another useful feature of this change is the ability to separate personal posts from official broadcasts. Thus, you can use Facebook as your modified RSS reader. Facebook is rolling out the changes in a staggered manner, so the update is not available for everyone yet.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
