It seems that Facebook’s coming event on Monday could be the mark of the launch of their own mail client, as opposed to some previous thoughts of simple inbox revamping. The rumoured mail client is currently being referred to as ‘Project Titan’. The rumour has sparked thanks to an invitation to the Monday event which contains some hints that a web client will be announced.
If you hadn’t already noticed, Facebook and Google have been having a little falling out recently with no signs of making up, and it could be that this could be the source of their fight. To add further fuel to this fire, there is rumour around that this new mail client is being referred to as the ‘Gmail killer’ behind the scenes at Facebook.
At the last Facebook event, we saw many tweaks and changes to a lot of their features including; big changes for their groups and deals for Facebook places. Previous rumours of a Facebook phone or mobile OS being announced in the previous event, although heavily supported and rumoured was flat out denied by Facebook. Still, we may be seeing some tweaks to the service from the social-networking site. Either way, we’re looking forward to what Monday may bring.
