iOS 4.2 has broken it’s latest due date rumour of either the 9th or today. It seems the leak was very much untrue, but they still have until the end of this month before it is officially ‘late’ since Steve Jobs did give us the vague November time stamp.

However, it seems that a reason for it not specifically being released today isn’t just simple delaying for no reason from Apple, as a rather serious bug has been discovered on the iOS 4.2 gold master – the early release version for developers – which would definitely have gotten Apple plenty of hassle and complaints. It seems the problem is with WiFi connections with MacStories saying “even if the iPad manages to successfully connect to a local network, the connection is lost after a few minutes”. Lucky that one was spotted before the release.

If Apple are to sort out this problem on the iOS 4.2 gold master we could be waiting a little while before the newest OS version comes to devices. There is still some optimism going around that the bug will be quickly fixed and we could be seeing the update in a matter of days. The whole White iPhone 4 fiasco may have left some doubt in Apple’s ability to sort out public demand for their products but there’s no point in getting irritated at Apple until December.

An absolute tech junky, I graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Computing and now live on the outskirts of Leeds working with you guessed it, Computers. I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
