The iPad 2 has been hinted to be scheduled for a January unveiling, and it’s looking more and more likely, after word has already got out that Apple have shot the promotional adverts for their follow-up to their market leading tablet device. Word is from 9 to 5 Mac that the adverts were shot late last month by British Photographer David Sims at Pier 59, New York.
The shooting event apparently had a heavy security gathering, along with anyone involved having to sign non-disclosure forms to avoid any information getting out there. Although it sounds like this was almost pointless since we know of this shoot, we still haven’t really learnt anything new about the upcoming tablet from Apple, only finding that the chances of a January announcement are more than likely if Apple are to stick to their annual product cycle. However, it seems that to prevent anything getting out about the tablet, Apple reportedly took precautions to use the current iPad in the shoot, which will be digitally changed to match the new look in post-production. So at least it seems like Steve Jobs will be sticking to his guns, keeping the tablet the same size instead of jumping to a 7-inch device (which he has attacked in the past after rumours of the possibility).
Other rumours circling the upcoming tablet include; built in front and rear facing cameras, a retina display, and facetime video calls (which are all of course at the moment unconfirmed). Until the true unveiling which will hopefully be in January, it seems we will have to rely on these rumours to give us an idea of what we will be getting.
