E3 Playstation Conference: Release Dates & Prices for PS3 Move, GT5, Subscriptions and 3D Line-Up

Sony were the final games company to take the stage at this year’s E3. Although, they were last they were certainly not least, as they outlined some exciting plans for the next 12 months.

Sony unveiled their much talked about Move Motion Controller and confirmed that would be on sale in Europe on 15th September. They also announced that for €59.90 you will get Move, one Playstation Eye and a starter disc.

Move will also be sold separately for €39.99, while the Navigation Controller (originally called the Sub-Controller) will cost €29.99. The PlayStation Eye itself will cost €29.99.

Playstation Move will be flanked by an impressive 16 launch titles and with 40 more due to hit store during the Christmas period.

There will also be two other accessories at the launch including a shooting attachment and charging station. Costing €14.99 and €29.99 respectively.

Sony confirmed what many had thought, Gran Turismo 5 will be in 3D and have finally committed to a release date for North America, November 2nd.

Next up Sony unveiled the premium Playstation Network service. They announced that the new service would launch on 29th June Worldwide.

Everything that is currently free will remain free, we were told, including online multiplayer gameplay.

However, users will be able to fork over €14.99 for 90 days’ access or €49.99 for annual access to exclusive features and content, including demos and betas.

Perhaps most interestingly – and definitely controversially – one perk of the service will be the option to schedule your PS3 to switch on and download demos, patches and those odious firmware updates automatically.

Finally, Sony made a huge song and dance about their 3D support and gave a indication of what games are going 3D. Headliners include Killzone 3 – an extended demo of which was shown in stereoscopic 3D for everyone in the audience at the conference – and Gran Turismo 5, LittleBigPlanet 2, Twisted Metal and MotorStorm: Apocalypse.

Third parties aren’t being left out either. As previously announced, Crysis 2 will have 3D support, as will Mortal Kombat 9, NBA 2K11, Shaun White Skateboarding, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier and TRON Evolution.

PS3 will also receive stereoscopic 3D Blu-ray Disc movie support later this year.

  • Sony move, a concept taken from the masters at Nintendo. Nintendo should have patented it.

I love all things gadgety but really dislike wires. For those of you who haven’t worked it out the name of the site is a combination of my nickname (Gaj) and the pronunciation ‘Gadget’.
