The tech world world waited in anticipation as the much talked about HTC Supersonic was announced yesterday as the HTC EVO 4G.
The new HTC EVO 4G will launched on Sprint's WiMAX network and will come jam packed with a whole host of fantastic specs.
Similar to the rumours, the EVO 4G will tout a 4.3 inch TFT screen running at a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Inside, the operating system will be the Android 2.1 and will include a Snapdragon processor running at 1GHz.
It will offer 1GB of memory and 512 RAM. For camera enthusiasts the device includes a 720p video, with a disappointing front facing camera of 1.3 megapixel, however on the back camera offers a more impressive 8 megapixel camera. More features include WiFi capability, an HDMI connector and a built-in kickstand.
However, the most tantalising feature of the phone has to be that this will be Sprint’s first ever 4G phone. The HTC EVO is expected to run at very high transfer speeds compared to 3G and Sprint believes that this will entice customers to purchase the phone because of this capability.
Details of a release date has still yet to be announced but many are hoping for a summer release. With the iPhone 4G also rumoured to be released for that date, we can only speculate and wait see which one will come out tops.
What do you think of the spec for the new HTC EVO 4G? Are you impressed and will you be one of the people making a 'sprint' to get your hands on one? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think…

Why will the HTC Supersonic not work in the U.K as it dose 3G/4G the U.K is always the last place for these new Smartphones.
I believe that this phone is going to top the iPhone. With the android system, it will have almost as many apps. It is still windows mobile which allows one to be connected to the world. The touch screen and camera are a huge bonus. I believe it has the potential to really trump the iPhone. On the other hand, it is only the first attempt at a 4G phone for Sprint. I’m crossing my fingers and can’t wait to pick mine up.
when will it be out in england and wht is the price
@Brian
What do you mean by, “It is still windows mobile…”?
The OS is Android.
Decisions decisions…….
I have been waiting patiently for the nexus one to come out on a Vodafone tariff. After reading a review on the HTC desire I thought I would try it out and return it after a week (something to wet my appetite). When I did try to purchase the phone I was told that T-mobile have pulled the phone out due to software issues. Now this 4G HTC phone is coming in the summer… What are they trying to do to us?
This phone sounds mean. Now the problem I’m left with is do I purchase the Nexus one or wait for this 4G HTC phone. Hmmmmm
Flip a coin? spin a bottle?
@ Mo Jebli.. Even iPhone releases its new 4G version, still however, it will not have flash support!!!!!! Steve Jobs is the greatest king of kings in hell. SO, a good investment for a new phone, in my opinion, would be the HTC EVO 4G. Hopefully, they won’t postpone the release date as them Nokia people did on the N900 :)
Can everybody say finally we beat the iphone finally it only took sprint 4 years but we did it. Im so exited…
I think that the HTC Evo will come to the UK. There are always rumours about smartphones not entering the UK and we are getting 4G networking soon
Im really hoping that the evo does come to the u.k sooner or later because i was hoping to get a nexus one but have been having second thoughts considering price and some of the bad comments about it. My friend then told me about the Evo so i thought i would do a bit of research on it and it has turned out to look absolutly awesome, I really do belive this could be an iPhone killer at last!
HTC EVO FTW!!!!
>> Mo Jebli Im in exactly the same position as you are. What are you thinking of doing?
Well the Evo 4G sounds like the phone that everyone is waiting for. All we need is a date, when it arrives to our shores.
Im not sure that the HTC EVO will come to the uk but more to the point i need a new phone! Anyone got an idea’s for a phone that comes out before the htc evo or has come out. HTC really needs to get its’s act together and start sending these beast’s of phones over to the uk instead of just saying NO!!
This phone or a rebranded version will definately come to the UK soonish. We may not get these smartphones on the same day as in USA but we will get them months or even weeks later, sometimes even days. If you can’t wait for this then I suggest going for the HTC desire, my bro got this phone the other day and the Android OS along with a 1Ghz Dragon processor is amazing!!! iPhone has already lost in my opinion…
Oh my god!!! Wah wah wah, we’ve got to kill the iPhone, this will kill the iPhone. Get a life. What is wrong with you fanboys?
This looks like a really cool phone so get, enjoy it etc… But please stop crying about the iPhone!!! Jesus.
This is a handset worth waiting for and although its made for showing off awsome internet speeds which you only get with 4G, thats not a reason to asssume it wont come to the UK. the 4G iphone will help us brits to ensure 4G is up and running soon. Im a bit worried though that since 02 are working on 4G and iphone will renew their marriage vows with i-phone upon the release of the new 4G handset all us non iphone and non 02 customers will need to sit about like kids who missed out on xmas pudding till voda, orange and t mobile get their fingers out and catch up on a decent 4G network. until then im happy with my HTC HD2. when i first got this handset last december i wrote a list of things to make it the ultimate phone….android, front facing cam, HD video etc etc. Im now thinking the guys from HTC in Taiwan are watching me cos the EVO is the bees knees. if and when 4G is up and running here in the UK and we still dont have the EVO then a trip across the atlantic should sort that out. a friend of mine has the desire…i like it but the screen size of the HD2 and EVO is to salivate over.
Why do you want flash support, I have to agree that flash is dead guys, its not suitable for mobile use.
As for the HTC EVO beating the iphone, not a chance.
wait for the iphone 4G
Long live HTML5….
@Dominic “Wait for the iPhone 4G” The iPhone 4 isn’t going to be 4g capable, it’s just the fourth iPhone to hit the shelves…
And as for the iPhone being superior well, i think you’re completely wrong the Android OS is currently the best OS available and since the iPhone doesn’t use Android then there’s simply no way that it will top the HTC EVO.
If I bought one from US sim free, will it work in UK? I’de love to just buy it.
Is there a release date yet for the Evo? I heard mid-June but hey its now mid July….
