So Merry Christmas to those readers who celebrate it, Happy Holidays to those who don’t. I’m currently sat suffering from the most horrendous man flu in a flat about as warm as an ice cube, so, inspired by this post at Style Clone here are my top five winter warmers to spend your hard earned Christmas money on.
Etre Touchy
Now these are very cool. If you’re like me and you spend a lot of time traveling around in the cold but still want to be able to text or operate your MP3 player, then you probably wear fingerless gloves. And while they keep most of your hand warm, the tips of your fingers are still bloody cold. But the inventor of Etre Touchy seems to have noticed that you only need the thumb and forefinger free, and voila! not quite fingerless gloves. Genius.
Buy them from the Etre Touchy website, £19.99
Ignite Hand Warmers
Hard warmers, which heat up when you flick a disk inside and cause a chemical reaction, have been around for years (I have one so old that it’s gone solid now). But they tend to be rather girly, usually being heart shaped or some such soppiness. Ignite Hand Warmers are black squares with flames on the front. So be a man and by some, and save your hand freezing on the way to work. TIP – a motorbiking colleague of mine used to put these inside his gloves on long journeys.

Heart Warmer Hot Water Bottle
Oh ok, you know I can’t help being girly even as I recommend manly looking gadgets. I’m devoted to my hot water bottle and the fashion these days seem to be for hot water bottles wearing cute little jumpers. Fill it up, take to bed and stay warm and cosy all night long. Warms the cockles of your heart they might say (I’m assuming they know what cockles are, because I always though they were a kind of sea food…)

Desktop Mug Warmer
Of course the most British way of keeping warm is with a nice cup of tea (or coffee if you’re following the lead of those heathen Americans). I drink on average four cups a day, because that’s what happens when you work in an office. Probably all of them end up unfinished because they go cold. Connect this little beauty to your computer via USB and never have to choke down another mouthful of tepid milky liquid again.

Cosy Plush Microwaveable Soft Toy
Once upon a time there was a little ducky. He had an owner who loved him very much, and to show her love, every night she would cuddle up with him to watch TV. But only after she’d shoved him in the microwave on full power for five minutes so that he heated up to keep her warm. Luckily ducky was not a real duck, but a soft toy filled with a lavender scented heat bag, and that was exactly what he was supposed to be used for. The end.

I am desperately looking for some northface etip gloves,
“Gripper, silicone panel on palm and index finger functions with touchscreen cell phones, laptops, and MP3 player click-wheels. Never remove your glove to switch tracks, or answer calls, again. Sleek, techy sensor on glove really keeps the world at your fingertips. Features Laptop and MP3 player click-wheel functionality Silicone gripper palms.” from amazon.
They come in black although most pics show them in grey, brilliant goves although slightly more expensive than the Etre Touchy gloves.
