Free running viral sells mobile phone

When presented with the letters HTC, most people- even the technologically adept- will look at you with confusion. Not many people will realise that T-Mobile’s G1 was made by them. Oh, and their MDA and Vario ranges too. And they make phones that plenty of other companies smear their brand on too.

HTC have obviously noticed this and now they want a piece of the corporate pie. Enter Street Heroes. This viral marketing video for the HTC Hero has been one of the most viewed clips on YouTube this week. We’re thinking, and hoping, it’ll do them well.

The phone is the latest Android handset from HTC and looks a lot better than some of their earlier offerings. Notice how the distinct HTC/Android kink has been sexyfied and the horrible white colour has been replaced with a much sleeker brushed steel.

Disclaimer: For those of you who love the fridge-esque white, HTC are still making it in that colour so don’t panic.
