Tesco to Offer iPhone in the UK

There has been lots of news and announcements about the mobile phone companies, like Orange and Vodafone, which have started to sell Apple’s iPhone now that O2’s exclusive rights have ended. What is really interesting is that now Tesco Mobile have announced that it will shortly introduce the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS in Tesco Phone Shops and online through Tesco Direct. Tesco, of course, is known for pricing everything competitively, but not only food, clothing and household goods but also electronic goods and mobile phones.

Nokia Unveils Two New 3G Slider Phones – The Nokia 6700 Slide & Nokia 7230

Sometimes you might be forgiven for thinking that the only mobiles phones in existence are the iPhone, the Nokia N900, HTC phones with Windows Mobile 6.5 and anything running Android. But they aren’t. Some people just want easy to use 3G phones with a nice camera and a splash of social networking. HTC HD2 Now Available From O2

Vodafone managed to get the new HD2 smartphone from HTC on sale a week ago, but if you want to go with O2 then this new Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone is now on sale from today. The HD2 is special in a number of ways including the fact that it has a 4.3 inch screen (compared to the 3.5 inch of an iPhone) and a 1Ghz processor.

Multi-Touch Coming to UK Dell Studio 17 Laptops Before the End of the Year

Dell added the option of a multi-touch display to the Studio 17 laptop a few days ago for customers in the USA. Now according to Crave UK, Dell will make this option available to UK customers before the end of the year. Multi-touch is a form of touch screen where the screen can sense multiple finger touches at the same time. This allows for gestures involving two or more fingers like pinch and rotate.

Google Chrome OS Sees Light of Day – Almost

As expected Google has shown off the very first builds of Chrome OS and as I predicted it doesn’t change anything today but has potential for the future. The first public version of Chrome OS (or Chromium OS as the open source version is called) is really a developer preview and Google aren’t planning on releasing the final version for another year. Having said that, Chromium OS gives us an interesting glimpse at how Google sees the future.

Solargorilla, a Portable Solar Charger, Among Winners at British Innovations Awards

The winners of the iawards have been announced. I wrote about the iawards back in August to encourage budding inventors to enter the awards which aim to recognise and celebrate the best British achievements in science, innovation and technology. The awards ceremony was held this week at the Science Museum and it saw the teams behind this year's best British innovations rewarded for developing practical solutions to some of society's greatest challenges. Among the winners was the Solargorilla a portable solar charger, from Powertraveller, which extends the power life of laptops and other electronic devices via the company’s Powergorilla device.

PlayStation 3 Gets Facebook Integration

Sony has officially announced on the PS3 blog that the forthcoming V3.10 firmware upgrade for the PlayStation 3 will include support for Facebook.

The update which is scheduled to be released “soon” allows you to link your PlayStation Network account to your Facebook account and automatically update your Facebook status with Trophy and PlayStation Store activity.
