Apple sold 3.27 million iPads during the first three months of its launch. Despite all the naysaying, iPad proved to be a big cash cow
for the Cupertino based company. Now one Wall Street Analysts has claimed that the tablet outsold all the other popular debuts. It also beat out original iPhone. Colin McGranahan, a retail analyst with Bernstein Research, claimed that the device is the fastest selling non-phone electronic product in the history.
iPad took mere 28 days for reaching a million unit mark, whereas the wildly-popular iPhone accomplished the feat in 74 days. The analysts also stated that the tablet is on its way to supass game consoles and basic cell phones to emerge as the fourth-largest consumer product category in the United States.
Although, the company has not updated its sales figure after is July declaration of selling 3.27 million units, the analyst expects that the company sold 4.5 million more iPads during its recently concluded fourth quarter. In 2011, the company is likely to earn $9 billion in revenue from the device. This figure will put iPad just behind the markets for TVs, smartphones and notebook computers. Well, these figures are good and sweet, but the current slew of iPad-wannabes in the market was a big enough sign for us.
