Rumours of an iPad mini appear to be true, not that we ever doubted them, as Apple has sent out the invitations for what is widely speculated to be the launch of the iPad mini - a smaller version its iPad tablet.
According to the latest rumours Apple will be launching a miniature version of their iPad to try and fend off competition from Amazon and Google. The tech giant is expected to introduce the iPad Mini on October 17, crucially just a week before Amazon releases its Kindle Fire range of budget tablets in the UK for the first time.
Apple's new iOS 6 software update is now installed on 100 million devices since going live last week, and it adds some 200 new features to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.
