Ok, we’ve all been there at one point in our working lives; in the middle of watching a hilarious video on YouTube involving a guy falling off a particularly tall filing cabinet, a hedgehog and a huge bowl of custard. At that precise moment, your boss springs up from behind your shoulder to confirm their suspicions that you are indeed not entirely focused on your job. Well, we may not all have watched the exact same video, but otherwise this scenario plays over and over again in offices throughout the world. Well fear getting caught no longer with the ingenious USB Stealth Switch.
This essential bit of office kit is a desktop cloaking device and instantly hides applications of a dubious nature just at the press of a foot switch. Your offending browser isn’t just minimised which, let’s be honest, doesn’t hide your facebook addiction at all, but instead it is completely hidden from view. Not only does the Stealth Switch work visually, but it can also mute sound which is great for those annoying, noisy pop up ads that scream out “No Way!” at the most inopportune moment during an impromptu meeting at your desk.
The foot switch is the cleverest part about the design of this gadget, as you don’t need to fumble around with zooming your mouse towards every close-window button in sight. Nor do you have to ALT-TAB your way out of trouble. The covertness of the foot switch means that you can be waving your hands over your head as a distraction before everyone looks back at your screen to see that Word Document you’ve been “working on all along…”
The Stealth Switch comes with a 6 inch USB cable and CD software. It is programmable to hide only what you want to including browsers, Office Documents, download windows, instant messenger applications, video players etc. Just keep that intricate excel spreadsheet open in the background and you can suddenly become the most assiduous worker on your team. Or at least look like you are.
Priced at £22.99 from Gadget Hub, it’s a very affordable investment for retaining your job and that eBay bid at the same time.

Oh no TazzaHall! Don’t remind me about Soltaire! Once I became so addicted to the game that I even started playing it at work. One day I was soo into my game that I didn’t even see my manager creep up behind me only to my horror that he had seen me play solitaire. If only USB Stealth Switch was invented then…it would have been a gem to get me out of that pickle! ;-)

This is the ultimate tool for the undercover goofoff at work. I vote this the ultimate office tool for any cubicle citizen using company bandwidth to keep up with the latest in gadgetry.

Hey. It’s simple, it’s black, it can save you from embarrassment or worse, seems affordable enough…
I’d buy one.

See this is great, because it allows one to get back to work faster too. I know I am probably the only one thinking this, but If I get to browsing the web reading blogs, its harder for me to stop, but if I had a switch that would hide everything at once and allow me to get back to work, it would have a better effect on me, and cause me to be more efficient.
