Consoles going the way of the Dinosaurs, by 2020 in fact!

Author: Arutha | Files under Gaming, News

Yes its true, well that’s if you believe the latest claim by the boss of the online gaming network, WildTangent.

While he was speaking at the Casual Connect game conference in Seattle, St. John (yes that’s his real name, don’t think he’s a catholic minister however) was quoted saying

“We are looking at the last generation of consoles right now. I am going to predict to you that the PS3, the Wii and the Xbox are the last generation of consoles that you either see or that anybody regards as successful in the market.”

St. John makes his money through the production of digital downloads for the PC, so is this just a man full of hot air inflating him-self up?

Or could it be true and could the consoles we know and love be on their way out? Personally I think its going to take a decent sized meteor to make a dent in the console armor.

Well I completely disagree as it seems like the consoles are going from strength to strength and like the Wii you just never know what innovation will get people excited, I mean a motion sensor in a remote, who’d of thought it would be this big. I mean I can see there being virtual reality consoles in the future.

Funny he predicts this as GadgetGirl predicted this when the PS3 came out in an article she wrote for a magazine. I disagreed with her then of course.

    Time will tell
