It seems that the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 on the Playstation 3 has done nothing to stop the rampaging Wii, having beaten the console made by Sony in the sales war for 7 consecutive months now.
With sales figures of 235,990 units to the Sony’s 129,494 it seems that Nintendo are going from strength to strength. Plus it shows that power is not always a good thing.

Am i not right in thinking that the PS3 was designed with a 10 year life cycle? Ok, the Wii may be kicking the PS3’s backside at the moment, but in a couple of years time it will have to be replaced. Whereas the PS3 has so much technology, the majority which hasn’t been fully exploited, that it’ll still be going strong in 5 years time. I’m sure Sony will evenbtually make a killing on the PS3.

Hi Suheal,
This is a vaild point, however Sony are losing alot of money for each console it sells. I think that last recorded amount was upto the $3 billion mark so far.
But you can turn around to me and say ’sure but they make more money back on the games’ and you would be right, if it was not for the fact that Microsoft have got the rights to alot of the title that were suppose to be on the Sony machine.
This arguement could go on for a long time lol so i’ll get back to the point, in the end it seems that the ‘weaker’ console on the market is the one making more money. Now in the business world most people would settle for a product that will generate huge sales figuers in the shortest amount of time possible rather than one which will generate money over a longer period.
My last comment will be this, the Nintendo machine has been given a life span of 5 years, do you not think Nintendo will have learnt from this experance and make thier next machine even better?
