Sony also launched a digital user manual for the console. The manual provides details about user accounts, tech specs and trophies. While the console would not be available in the European markets until next year, you can go ahead and devour the digital manual as it is available in English as well. The company has limited each console to one account, so the memory cards used are not exchangeable. If you want to use your console for a different account, you will need to erase all of your details and bring the console back to factory settings. This feature is expected to be one of the main downsides for a otherwise great console.

Contrary to expectations, the console does not support 1080p HD playback, so you can play your videos in a standard resolution. However, the console is able to support 18 languages and offer customizable dictionary and predictive typing.

PlayStation Vita is expected to hit European and US markets in February next year.

Available in red, green and black (all metallic), the EasyShare M575 is perfectly themed for Christmas. There is also a video record function that will let you film High Def up to 720p, which isn’t top of the market but is definitely decent. Unfortunately you can’t zoom while filming your latest Spielberg moment with this camera.

The Samsung ST6500 comes with plenty of artistic filters and setting to keep any creative entertained. You can “vignette” or “object highlight” your pics with ease before loading your artistic endeavours to Facebook. The standard picture quality is good too considering the price, with a hybrid image stabilisation that uses both optical and digital anti-shake techniques.

For a design camera with artistic photo features, the Samsung ST6500 is hard to top.

This compact camera packs a wicked 10x optical zoom. Combined with 720p HD video recording capability and an excellent battery life, the Casio Exilim EX-H15 makes it worth the extra few pounds for a performance digital camera.

The camera’s big screen isn’t touch-responsive but there aren’t many buttons to play with. You can access most of the camera’s features through an easy-to-use  on-screen menu and five-way pad system. One thing this camera lacks is an HDMI output, and video recording is limited to 29 minutes, but for most people that’s more than enough to claim their two minutes of fame on YouTube.

The Samsung EX1 has a full manual mode, HDR capability, can capture files in RAW and comes with a good range of filters to get your artistic side excited. If all of that is somewhat meaningless for you, the camera also comes with a fully automatic mode so that it does all the hard work for you.

This camera takes great low-light photos, making it perfect for capturing those embarrassing moments at the pub.

Though, the wannabe pirates are claiming that they are disbanding as they have accomplished their goals. But the things are not that simple. Cyberworld may seem like a robotic place but it is still populated and governed by human beings and their amorphous instincts. Recently, there had been rumors that LulzSec not only messed up with corporations and governments, but also managed to sour its relationship with other underground hacking groups. One competing hacking group even went ahead and published the names of LulzSec members.

Apart from this, the government also revved up its quest against the group and arrested a 19 year old, suspected to be the mastermind behind the group. With some high profile heists, the group is already a target of envy from its rival gangs. However, some of the hacking groups have also alleged that LulzSec lacks direction and thus is going haywire.

While there are not many people empathizing with the hacking group and we are pretty sure not many tears would be shed at the news of its demise, but the group at least showed the loopholes in internet and online security. Now, that every company and their grandma is jumping on the Cloud Computing bandwagon, the issue becomes even more important.

In a recently filed class action lawsuit, three men have claimed that the breach was caused by some laid-off security employees of the Japanese company. The suit also alleges that the company was complacent about fortifying its security measures despite knowing that its security system was flawed. The suit, which has been filed in the San Diego US District Court, states that only two weeks before the breach, the company had pink-slipped a large number of security employees.

The suit also accuses Sony of adopting discriminatory policies. It says that while the company was lavish in spending money over its own server security, it was lax when it came to securing customers’ data. The suit stated, “Sony took numerous precautions and spent lavishly to secure its proprietary development server containing its own sensitive information … but recklessly declined to provide adequate protections for its Customers’ Personal Information.” It looks like Sony’s Welcome Back program is not yielding the expected results.

The most damning statement that LulzSec posted was about security measure taken by Sony for protecting its users’ data. The group claimed, “Sony stored over 1,000,000 passwords of its customers in plaintext, which means it’s just a matter of taking it.This is disgraceful and insecure; they were asking for it.”  And you would think that Sony would have learnt its lessons from PSN failure. Sony’s frigid response so far had been that it is “looking into” the issue.

LulzSec is the same group which claimed to hack PBS’s website. The hacking group claimed that it was able to retrieve administrative information from Sony Picture’s website and could have gathered all the information it had accessed. And if you are going to dismiss the claim as mere fear-mongering tactics, then you should believe AP which tested the information revealed and found that the claims are actually true.

However, Sony is not the only company which is facing these issues. Google also recently reported the hacking of Gmail accounts, though, the company blamed China for the breach. Defense contractor Lockheed Martin Corp. also fell to the tactics of hacking groups.

LulzSec claimed that it did not hack the site for personal glory but for “embarrassing” the multinational company. Well, we would just say that these hacking groups  need to cut some slack to Sony, as the company has already suffered a massive blow to its reputation.

The already troubled company is estimated to have lost $171 million, thanks to the hackers infringing upon its territory. Sony also warned that it may also have to post annual loss, which would complete its hat-trick of disappointing results. Sony’s losses for the year are likely to be around $3.2 billion. After two years of red results, the company was hoping to post profits this time, but things were just not meant to be. Though, Sony claimed that there are no confirmed reports that the identities were actually compromised.

Sony projected the overall cost of breach at $171 million which includes lost revenue, security overhaul, legal fees and the cost of providing customer support. Sony also launched a “Welcome Back” program, designed to lure back the users.  Under this program, Sony is offering free games and services to make up for the lost time and inconvenience. It has added some big names such as Dead Nation and Wipeout HD to the goodie bag.

Apart from free games, PlayStation Network users will also get access to some services, without incurring any cost. If you are a PSN users but do not subscribe to Sony’s premium service PlayStation Plus, then you can try out this service for one month, free of cost. If you already use this service, then your 60-days subscription fee will be waived off. The cost of this entire promotional program is also included in $171 million package.

Sony is having a bad streak lately. First, Japanese earthquake and Tsunami hit its production facilities, then PSN outage, now let’s just hope that the beleaguered company gets it users back on the grid again, real soon.
