Well I have some bad news folks, your PC won’t.

It seems that with the removal of Internet Explorer from the latest operating system from Microsoft it makes upgrading from Vista impossible. Instead a clean install will be required as Internet Explorer is so deeply embedded into the Vista Operating System (OS) that it cannot be removed for the Windows 7 upgrade to take effect.

The removal of Internet Explorer is due to the on-going Microsoft decision to avoid any further EU censure regarding the windows internet browser and other open source/third party browsers currently on the market.

But with a clean install requiring a little bit of technical knowledge many people may not upgrade to the new OS or they will and then wonder where all their data has gone, which as you can imagine might cause a bit of upset.

So if your new to the whole OS installation game my advice would be to get swatting up or even better get a tech-savvy friend round and make sure you back everything up, even your favourites.

Confirmed details so far are that it will come with Windows Mobile 6.1 and a 3.7-inch OLED screen.

Combined with this is Samsung’s 3D effect TouchWiz-style skin which will hopefully keep Windows in-line.

Cost-wise it’s reported to be around £375 with the current conversion rate in effect but unfortunately there has been no word yet as to whether this mobile will be released in the UK, but with Austria and Belgium getting their hands on it next month we can only hope it keeps on spreading.

Even better is that with the soon to be released Windows Mobile 6.5, this mobile comes with a free upgrade when the new OS is finally released.

This came as a shock to me, but it seems that PCWorld and its little brother Curries are actually selling the two operating systems cheaper than what was officially released at!

Micro Anvika is selling it at the same price as Microsoft released it for yesterday, with Staples being the most expensive (once you order it and they put VAT on)

Now I am not quite sure how long these will last for (I am guessing until Microsoft get a wind of it) so if your still without a copy my advice would be to get the plastic out now, or forever hold your peace.

This comes as no surprise to news addicts as they did the same thing in Japan, and with the Europe Microsoft servers going down within 2 hours of the offer being released it seems that us crafty Europeans wanted to get our hands on this offer before this happened to us to.

So for some of you the good news is that you have bagged yourself a copy of Microsoft’s new OS for a jaw dropping price, the bad news?

Well for those people who were not able to find the time to grab a copy, you are now forced to buy the product at a quite reasonable price of £79.99 for Home Premium and still the slightly odd £180-240 offer for Professional (don’t ask my why its just the Home version that’s gone up in price) your still making a saving which is a good thing, its just that your going to have to shell out £30 more than want your mate might have for the Home Premium.

These prices were retrieved from play.com at the time of writing this article so things might have changed by the time you are reading this, I shall keep you posted, or leave me a comment below.

For all you iPhoners out there, how often have you gone to check your life saving iPhone, only to realise you’ve used it so much over the day that the battery icon is flashing at you just before you get the life shattering blank screen?

No longer can you get your reminder of where you’re meant to be in the next 20 minutes let alone plan your trip home or find out where the local Pizza Hut is (sorry personal joke), leaving you wandering around your current location looking like a lost child exploring this strange place we call Earth.

Well fear no more iPhoners as the Juice Pack is here to save all those 999 calls from your loved ones who think you have gone missing due to your twitter page not having being updated since your phone went dead.

Basically the Mophie Juice Pack is a portable battery pack for the iPhone, but unlike others of its type the Juice Pack actually fits your iPhone snugly and actually doubles up as a back protector for the iPhone to boot (ain’t that nice?)

Tests have been run on this and it in fact doubles the life of the standard iPhone battery, so if your iPhone lasts for around 6 hours adding the Juice Pack will give you 12 hours.

Re-charges are also a snap with the Juice pack as the mini-USB cable that comes with it will not only change up the Juice Pack but also the iPhone battery as well, leaving you with both a fully charged iPhone and second battery. This allows your iPhone to be used as normal whilst connecting up to a PC/MAC so sync away.

All in all this is a rather handy little iPhone extender it’s surprisingly hard to find in the UK at the moment with the Juicepack website being the only place to purchase it at the moment but I can see this becoming a fav iPhone add-on.

With the release of Spotify, the place to stream all your favourite music without worrying about the law banging on your door, it seems Microsoft have found its foot in the door.

This is a huge boost for the streaming media front as Peter Davis, Marketing Manager at music download service 7digital (Spotify’s commercial MP3-partner) commented:

“We’re excited to hear the news Microsoft are looking at a music streaming model. It’s great that technology giants like Microsoft clearly recognise the importance of digital music for consumers. We’ll have to wait to see whether they go for the crucial MP3 universal music format which works on all devices.”

“Also who will they partner with if they want to offer the music to purchase?” added Davis. “We recently announced 7digital.com is providing high quality MP3 downloads for all international versions of Spotify.”

But with this news breaking it seems that Microsoft have been planning this for some time, with Peter Bele who is Executive Producer of MSN has hinted that Microsoft will have the new service ready by the end of the month! But details are still hazy on how Microsoft plans to offer this new service, whether it be via XBOX, MSN etc but will it be a contender for Spotify?

Apparently Hudson’s First Person Shooter (FPS) Onslaught, which is to appear on the Wii’s WiiWare service, is set to revolutionize the FPS market that is according to Hudson of course.

It is the first FPS to appear on Nintendo’s download service and will include the most intense action you’ll ever find; strong claims coming from a game that has been designed with limited tools.

The story is to be a standard affair; it goes along the lines of:

“In the distant future, contact with a distant research colony is lost and your team is sent in to find out what happened. Upon arrival, you’re attacked by overwhelming numbers of mysterious creatures. It’s up to you and your squad to eliminate the threat and discover the truth that lies deep inside the colony.”

Sounds a bit Doomie to me, plus it seems that Hudson has taken alot of elements from Nintendo’s Metroid Prime which appear on the Wii early on in its birth. With aiming done via the Wii remote pointer but reloading is done by shaking the remote (won’t that interfere with your aim?).

Throwing grenades is done with the nunchuk. The game also dons four-player co-op game play.

Time will tell what this game will bring. Many publishers have gone on recording saying the same thing, but then the game fails to deliver even an ounce of what was promised.

If it does succeed however, it might shake up the market, with developers competing to beat this one, just like the original Half-Life did years ago.

Although it did see a 2% drop in sales last week.

With Wii Fit going strong it’s a good sign that the country is taking their health seriously (either that or they like the hoola hoop game).

So who knows maybe we will be seeing more health type games being released on the console, which will cause a major headache for the more hardcore fans of the consoles, but you have to take the rough with the smooth.

A DS version has so far been confirmed, but it has been mentioned that a Playstation and XBOX version are in the works as well.

Bad news I am sorry to say, it will not be the famed zombie version that has been going around the Internet, that allows you to batter Norris around the head with his own legs. Nor will in involve a quest line that includes Rosie Webster, a wet T-Shirt and…..well you get my drift.

Instead you will be treated with an adventure and task-based concept set within the theme of the famous fictional street.

Personally I’ll be giving this one a miss but the acclaimed Ken Barlow Half-Life spin-off would be something to keep my attention, if only it were not another rumor making its rounds on the net.
