Vodafone Summer Deal: UK rates When Calling or Texting from Overseas

Well here’s a deal not to be sneezed at if you’re planning a Summer getaway. From June 1 until August 31, 2009 Vodafone are offering UK rates for calls and text made and received from most European and Australiasian countries. If you’re a big talker, this saving could even equate to budgeting for a extra night’s accommodation in the Canary Islands- nice!

To get on board, you just need to join Vodafone’s passport scheme, which is free and can be done directly from your mobile.vodafone_logo

If you’re on a Vodafone contract, simply text ‘Passport’ to 97888.
If you’re on Vodafone PAYG, text ‘Passport’ to 2345

Vodafone Passport usually allows you to make and receive calls when abroad at UK calls rates plus a connection fee of 75p per call or 29p per text. The difference with this Summer deal is that there will be no connection fee.

You can even use your inclusive minutes if you have them when calling your other half from Madrid to gloat about the weather.

If you’re not on Vodafone, you can get yourself a free sim to get in on this deal. Check out what’s on offer this free sim listing.

One thing also worth mentioning, is that once you touch down in your new palm-tree-ridden destination, you should make sure you’re on that country’s Vodafone or Vodafone partner network.

Your phone should automatically scan for local networks and might not pick a Vodafone-friendly one. However you can go through and manually choose a new network. A list of Vodafone’s partner networks in each country can be found on the Vodafone Website.

So which countries can you call in sick to work from at a reduced rate? Check out the list below (also handy for some inspiration on where to get some sun this Summer):

Albania, Andorra, Austria, Australia, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Faroes, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Isle of Man, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madeira, Malta, Monaco, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Vatican City.

Bring on the sun!
