Reasons:
Integrated with Windows file manager.
Reliable and stable software.(Windows only)
Realtime or scheduled backup.
Backup of files in use.
Backup Folders or individual files.
Retension of file versions as changes are made.
Reasonably priced.
1 Gig free.
The Company is focussed on quality.
I believe their product is underrated. Probably one of the very best services available.

I agree John Doyle, but not many home users require this for of data base backup service. I have started using a service from http://www.blockbackup.com as they do offer all the functionallity required above but only charge 2.99 for the service.

These services appear to be mostly for home users,these doesn’t seem to be much in the way of DB support of exchange,sql,oracle etc,or any of the newer features such as CDP,data deduplication.

One of the newest offerings out there is http://www.mydatanest.com. They are integrating many of the features that people are looking for. Since it is always more about individual taste I would recommend checking it out.

Great review, most of the online backup providers mentioned are mainly for home use, if you need a bit more functionallity (backup of Exchange, SQL with CDP) then check out http://www.onlinedatastore.co.uk . They charge about the same but you can backup live databases without any problems.

I fail to see how Drop Box is so much better than the rest. For starters, it looks like the limit is 50 GB, and for $9.99 that’s not even a good deal. I’m paying $4.95 a month for Mozy and I’ve uploaded 210 GB. I’ve considered Drop Box since the reviews are better than Mozy (overall) but I’d never be able to store all my data (mostly, my music collection). Mozy has worked great for me so far. I’ve even done a couple “test” restores. I once restored a 1.1 GB folder in approx. 20 minutes (4 – 8 Mbps). Upload speeds are approx. 1.2 kbps. Mozy is the way to go for me. And no, I don’t work for Mozy.
