Nine Year Old Boy Creates iPhone App

_45450940_shapeimage_2Lim Ding Wen, a nine year old Malaysian boy has created a ‘finger painting’ programme for the iPhone.  ‘Doodle Kids’ allows iPhone users to draw images on the phone’s screen using their fingers.  The screen can then be cleared by shaking the phone.

Now I thought writing the code for this programme was clever at such a young age, but that’s nothing!  Lim Ding Wen has been using computers since he was two years old.  He has been programming since age seven, is fluent in six programming languages and has completed more then twenty programming projects.

The whizz-kid created the application, in just a few days, for his younger sisters, who he says like to draw.  The application has now been downloaded more then four thousand times in less than two weeks.

His dad, Lim Thye Chean is a chief technology officer at a local hi-tech firm.  He says that his son is an above average boy with an interest in computers, and that ‘Doodle Kids’ is an extremely simple programme that can be done by anybody.

Even so, the achievements of this nine year old are nothing to be sniffed at and his current project is a sci-fi game for the iPhone called ‘Invader Wars’!
