Review: Toshiba 32CV505DB LCD TV

Overview

Everybody’s feeling the pinch right now when it comes to finances and we are all on the look out for a bargain. The Toshiba 32CV505DB is an HD Ready Digital LCD TV for those of us on a budget. And for only £349.99, it’s definitely worth a look! So let’s check it out!

Review

Style

Well it looks good. So that’s a good start! It sports a sleek and glossy black design with a depth of just 8 ½ cm. It comes with a swivel pedestal stand and can also be wall mounted (wall mount not included).

Dimensions are 525×786x85mm, with a weight of 12.2kg.

Features

The CV505 boasts a 32” LCD screen with 16:9 aspect ratio and 1366×768 resolution.

It is 1080 HD Ready and features Active Vision; boosting colour, contrast, detailing and motion handling. It has a dynamic contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and features Luma Sens technology. This detects brightness levels in the room and adjusts the pictures contrast accordingly.

It features MPEG and Digital noise reduction, a 3d digital comb filter and selectable picture formats.

The picture quality is good; it is rich, bright and vibrant. Black levels are good; however there is a lack of shadow detailing and bright picture elements can look a tad over exposed. There is minimal motion blur and 24fps playback can be just a touch shuddery.

The CV505 promises stunning sound quality and uses a Nicam Sound System with SRS WOW technology and bass boost to deliver enhanced audio performance.

Interactive features include Digital Text, Fastext Text Page Memory, Electronic Programme Guide: 8 Days, Now and Next Information and Favourite Channel Memory. Tuning is simple with auto-set up, an analogue tuner and a Freeview digital tuner.

Other features include a sleep/off timer, full power down mode that can be switched on and off, game mode, panel lock and integrated signal amplifier.

Connections include 3 HDMI (high definition multimedia interface), Component video, 2 SCART sockets, Side AV input, PC Input, Analogue Audio Input, Fixed/Variable Audio Output, Optical Digital Audio Output, Sub-woofer Audio Output, Headphone socket, DVB Common Interface, S-Video and Composite Video .

Gaj-It Verdict:

Style: 10/10
Features: 9/10
Usability: 9/10
Value: 10/10

We Say:

The few negatives are not something that can be noticed unless you’re looking to spot the tiniest faults! The telly looks good; it’s sleek, glossy (I like glossy!) and attractive and has some great features. For a budget flat-screen TV under £400, I don’t think you can complain.
