Samsung have slimmed down and gone double-sided crazy!

Single sided screens maybe the thing of the past with Samsung claiming that it has created the first LCD panel that can produce independent images both sides of a single small LCD display. The double sided LCD will show two entirely different pictures at the same time on the front and the back of the screen.

Without boring you with the technicalities, Samsung will be initiating this to its mobile products. Today’s typical mobile contain two different LCD screens: a smaller screen on the outside for when the phone is closed and a larger one on the inside, used when the phone is open. Using a single double-sided LCD screen would allow manufacturers to shrink the thickness of the handset and accelerate the trend to what Samsung believes ‘slimmer mobile products’.

They anticipate mass production in early 2007, so I am certainly going to be watching this space to find out what Samsung sexy, slim and stylish products it will unleash in line with this innovation.
