MPH UK: Hands-On Video with the Sony Vaio TZ Ultra-Portable Laptop

Author: Gaj | Files under Cool Gadgets, Laptops, PC, Reviews

Whilst admiring the motors at the MPH, my eye was caught by the Sony stand. Now I’m not sure if it was my ulta-geekiness that led me there or just the super hot girls exhibiting some really fine Sony gadgets.

Anyway cars, gadgets and hot girls, well I’m a bloke and I’m sure most blokes would agree that this is not an invitation to be missed. So I politely accepted and took the opportunity to get my hands on Sony’s ultra-portable notebooks and anything else that was on offer.

Now lets get super geeky then, the Sony Viao TZ series is the successor to the TX series and on first impressions it’s light, good looking and you can tell that it’s a complete ulta-portable multi-media device. It comes with a 11.1′ screen, WIFI and Bluetooth ofcourse and a DVD drive which was a surprise. It also features an inbuilt slot for your 3G sim so you don’t need to take up a USB slot.

The Vaio TZ series uses Sony’s G-Sensor shock protection system so you won’t damage your hard disk with daily knocks and bumps. It has a finger print reader for secure log-in, a very practical keyboard with plenty of space between the keys and its sophisticated good looks have been packaged up by a tough and durable carbon fibre package. It also comes with an ultra-low voltage Intel Centrino Duo with two modes of operation so you could get 7.5 hours of use before you’ll need to recharge.

Okay so what are the bad points to this nifty little device? Well I have to say the price makes it inaccessible to most people at £1,749 but after watching the video you will suddenly feel the urge to fill your own stocking this Christmas.

I really think you have to check out the video to really admire this piece of ultra-portable art.

Please leave your thoughts on the device.

Thanks to Dave Warner from thesmartchoice for the video voiceover.
