Fancy being on the telly???

There’s no doubt about it, for the majority of us, technology has a huge impact on our daily lives. For instance, have you ever gone one day without the internet? Dear god! Catastrophe!! No checking your email, no nosying at your friend’s Facebook profiles… the list goes on!

The BBC and the Open University are co-producing a new 3-part documentary for BBC 4 and are looking for a family to participate. The series will transport a family back to the 1970’s – the dawn of the digital age, through to the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s to look at the impact technology has had over the last 40 years.

“The series will chart the technological revolution of the past 40 years and assess the impact these changes have had on an everyday British family”.

Throughout each ‘decade’ the family will live in an appropriately styled and themed household with all the ‘mod cons’ of that particular time. Vinyls and slide projectors in the 70’s. Walkmans and early microwaves in the 80’s. Early email and basic mobile phones by the 90’s.

“We’ll ask what lessons they’ve learnt regarding the role of technology in family life and their attitude to the transformation of their home since 1970”.

The family will be supported by a team of IT experts on hand to help them with any technological enquiries.

The BBC and Open University are looking for a home-owning family with at least three children between the ages of 8 and 18. A family with an interest in modern history and how technology has transformed the family home. I reckon this documentary will provide the chosen family with an interesting (and challenging I’m sure) nostalgia trip!

Are you up for it? Personally I’m a bit of a history geek and imagine the experience would be fantastic. I look forward to seeing the finished product! If it sounds like your cup of tea, the contact details are as follows.
