NEC Electronics could bring Blu-ray Vs. HD-DVD format war to an end.
The war could be over before it’s begun for the two rivals Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Most people have anxiously awaited a dual-format player so now it’s not far away thanks to the Japanese chip maker NEC Electronics.
Now that NEC has the ball rolling a pick-up device is required which will read both Blu-ray and HD-DVD disc formats. This should give consumers like us the confidence that we won’t have to throw away half our DVD collection.
Don’t worry if you’ve been baffled by the whole format war, Sony has been pushing the Blu-ray technology and companies like Toshiba have been promoting HD-DVD. After the two camps tried to compromise they realised there isn’t one, so the two technologies will live side-by-side rather than one winner and a ME and YOU the loser.
Great news, now I can start building the Hi-Def DVD collection.
