It seems that TomTom have been given the go ahead to take over the company, Tele Atlas by the European Commission.
In light of this take over, TomTom will now have the support of Tele Atlas to help keep such features already seen on it’s TomTom updated, these being it’s Map Share (enabling TomTom’s installed base of nearly 20 million to contribute to digital map creation and maintenance), TomTom’s IQ Routes (a database of actual speeds driven on roads gathered from anonymous GPS traces contributed by tomTom’s users) and TomTom’s HD Traffic (based on cell phone probes).
