Battery life (4 cell) is terrible. Could not upgrade to 9 cell when I ordered. Separate 9 cell battery is $150.
Both hinges have broken, after only one year. I’m paying Dell $169 to replace the hinges.

Okay, so, I’ve had this computer for a little over two years now and I have to say, it’s amazing. The battery life is phenomenal, the screen is bright and gorgeous and it’s VERY easy to use. I LOVE it. I had a Toshiba laptop before this computer and the Toshiba crashed a few weeks after I bought it. The Dell was a total breath of fresh air. It’s durable and sturdy. I absolutely love it. (:

I am facing the same problem and also DVD ReWriter is not reading Bootable CDs and DVDs at startup to from CD or DVD…..

i have Dell Inspiron 1318.

I am facing a problem regarding DVD ReWriter that it is not detecting any DVD ROM and not writing DVD but it is reading CDs. its reading response is also very slow…

can anyone tell me the solution of this problem…

i disagree with the gaming part i can run World of Warcraft on this computer for hours and hours with no problem its running at least 40 frames a second all the time.
