Another Sony PS3 Price Cut?

PS3 BundleSince the launch of the Sony PS3 gaming console, my poor fingers haven’t been able to type fast enough to keep up with the pricing wars between them, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360!

However, it looks as though this time that Sony PS3 could be front runners in the price war. Hot gossip gadget news is in from Business Week, that Team Sony are now able to cut production costs by “shrinking the PS3′s chips and tweak its design”, which will get the cost per machine to ‘around $400 (£200) now from what it was previously over $800 (£400)’.

Mmmm…so if my gadget predictions are correct then this could mean that in the not so distant future we could see yet again another price cut from Sony.

This has happened with all of the new consoles over the years, its just another excuse to drop prices again. And then the playstation 4?? Maybe $1000. I can guarantee you six months on it will have dropped to $500!

I know exactly what you mean Alan.

Consoles companies like Nintendo and Sony build up the hype when the product is first introduced, cashing in on over inflated pricing and then reduce pricing when people start loosing momentum on the product.

It’s just another prime example of capitalism being perfectly executed in a lemmings-type culture.
Just like Alan and GadgetGirl stated, console producers use the supply and demand technique to hose their customers for tons of money in order to get the latest generation console on the market, knowing full well that in a matter of a few months better technology will surface in the consoles around the time when purchases slow down rounding out the general production to sale ratio which benefits the company and only a few, patient consumers, in the long run…
