Yesterday we had a flurry of disgruntled PS3 owners who we annoyed that they experiencing problems with their PlayStation. Well if you’re a Sony PS3 owner and don’t already know this, it would seem that you can get back on your consoles as Sony have advised that the issue has been resolved!
It would appear that this network problem was affected by the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units which somehow recognised the year 2010 as a leap year which is why some PlayStation 3 users were experiencing the problem.
Patrick Seybold, Senior Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media posted on the PlayStation blog that:
“We are aware that the internal clock functionality in the PS3 units other than the slim model, recognized the year 2010 as a leap year. Having the internal clock date change from February 29 to March 1 (both GMT), we have verified that the symptoms are now resolved and that users are able to use their PS3 normally.”
He also went on to advise that:
“If the time displayed on the XMB is still incorrect, users are able to adjust time settings manually or via the internet. If we have new information, we will update you through the PlayStation.Blog or PlayStation.com.”
So PlayStation users…it’s back to the game playing!
However, if you were one of these PlayStation users affected by the PS3 network error, did you lose any trophies as a result of this inconvenience and are you still annoyed at Sony for this error? Share your thoughts and leave us a comment…
