Preview: Sony Ericsson C905 – 8 Megapixel Camera for the Camera Clicking Enthusiasts

Overview

With the market being overhauled at the moment with a batch of new mobile phones, it would seem that Sony are definitely not going to be left out of the running with its recent announcement of their new line of mobile phones. These phones have been designed for the more camera click happy of us with its leading product, the C905 being the first mobile phone camera to offer a whopping 8 megapixel quality. So apart from its camera qualities let’s we find out what else this phone has to offer us…

Review

Style

For some people style and sophistication is everything when choosing their shiny gadget of a mobile phone, however for the C905 it looks as though they have ignored the rules of the style icon and have created a look which is more for the meat eating carnivore then the dainty vegetable eating vegan. With a 2.42″ high quality screen, which offers exceptional viewing for your photos it also comes with scratch resistant qualities so their is no harm if it gets a few bumps and bruises along the way.

Under the Bonnet…

It seems that Sony have done their homework when it comes to C905 as it offers all the standard features that you would expect to find in a smart phone today. It comes with Wi-Fi compatibility making file transferring a quick and easy process as well GPS technology, allowing you to geo-tagg your photos without even breaking a sweat.

Its not just geo-tagging which the GPS can be used for, as it can also be used for Assisted GPS (A-GPS) which allows for easier tracking of the mobile phone in case you misplace you phone or if your partner decides to ‘borrow’ it.

Unfortunately, it seems that this phone might not be able to make use of the more advanced features of GPS but who knows what the more programmer type people will be able to come up with once this phone has been released.

Otherwise, this phone comes with the standard set of features which include a FM radio, media player etc, but surprise surprise in true Sony fashion these have been given somewhat of a tweak. The media player for example will allow you to use Apple iSync software which means that the phone can be synced with an iPod device, whilst the FM radio comes with RDS and GraceNote Track ID services. This means that new music can be found and identified through the use of the phone as a radio which has been used in many Sony models before.

Memory wise this phone comes with an in-built memory of 160MB, which is quite disappointing considering that this phone is designed to take high resolution photos. But when you find out it comes with a 2GB Memory Stick Micro Card as standard as well as being able to top-up that with the option of upgrading the memory to a maximum of 32GBs, it does in fact lessen the frustration and put a smile on the face of even the most memory hungry people.

Camera and Video

As we have already said this mobile phone comes with a 8 megapixel camera and this is where this mobile will shine. This mobile will take the place of most stand-alone cameras without losing any quality and coupled with come fantastic advanced features you may well be getting more than what you had from your average camera.

Its advanced features include things such as autofocus and face detection of up to three people in the photo. As well this it comes with an image stabilizer, 16x digital zoom and an advanced flash system with a focus assist lamp and a self-portrait mirror for all those self posers (you know who you are).

This mobile is also able to record videos as well, even in darkened locations such as clubs and pubs when you’re around town.
