New iPhone Malware Emerges: Privacy A

After the fun and hilarity of the Rick Astley iPhone worm, another- more serious- piece of iPhone malware has been discovered.iphone

The Mac security vendor is referring to the code as “iPhone/Privacy .A.”. Catchy no?

Again it only affects iPhones that have been jailbroken which only puts a relatively small number of iPhones at risk, as this accounts for an estimated 8 per cent of handsets.

It also only affects jailbroken handsets that have not changed its root password for SSH which is “alpine”.

The malware searches for a vulnerable iPhone within its range and copies email, SMS messages, contact lists, calendar entries, music, photos, video and any other data captured by an iPhone app.

The hacker tool can be easily installed on a computer in an internet café, or on display at a store then scan all iPhones within reach.

Unlike the ikee worm which lets you know its there by changing your iPhone’s wallpaper, there is no obvious sign that this new malware has infected your phone.

Although I’m not in any immediate threat its actually quite scary when you think about whats actually on your phone and whats they can get hold of from your emails.

Do you know where they copy the data to?

It was bound to happen as phones are becoming more like mini computers.

Good Stuff…

Great stuff at a money saving price. Got this for my son who’s in Germany. So far it has worked flawlessly.
