Why? cos its screwed up far too tightly, and . . when you do exert enough leverage what happens? the top cap comes off un-deliberately. and it won't fit back properly. ie the little press button sinks inside the pen top and will not 'click' operate again. The real problem probably centres around the bottom half screw fitting. This simple pen is just what I wanted; how impressive BUT it has physical faults:-
