Robbery Suspects Found With “Find My iPhone”
You’ve seen them annoying adverts on the tellybox, “track your partners whereabouts” they say, “do you suspect they’re cheating?” or something pretty similar where they use your phone’s signal to track someone else’s. But here the “find my iPhone” feature in MobileMe actually came to good use.
Now it is surely a moment that every man and woman dreads, your walking down a dark alley late at night attempting to cut time off of your journey, when you see three men walking towards you looking shady and then one brings out a gun. They demand your wallet, credit card PINs and your iPhone and scared, you hopelessly give in to their demands. As the men are running away you remember that now you can use the “find my iPhone” feature that you have been dying to use! Away from the media spotlight, this is reportedly what happened in the early hours of this morning (around 1am in the US). The Unnamed victim, after escaping unharmed, contacted the police and his banks before going home and using the “find my iPhone” feature, located his iPhone at a local Walmart. The man then Coordinated with police and three suspects were then detained at a nearby petrol station. The reports say that the police seized things such as a wallet and identification but whether the iPhone was ever found is unknown.
There are many morals to this story, but the most obvious one is do not steal anybody’s iPhone….Simple!
