Spotify Makes More Money Than iTunes For Universal!

Universal Music Sweden has admitted this week that Spotify actually makes more money for them than iTunes does. “In five months from the launch, Spotify became our largest digital source of income and so passed by iTunes”, said Per Sundin, managing director of Universal Music.images

It’s not been that long since Spotify might be closing down. Other streaming music services have been forced to cut back coverage due to the egregious royalty rates charged for music streaming by the major labels and publishers, some have actually been forced to close down. However – since it was revealed that the labels are shareholders in Spotify, many have asked if they’re being given preferential rates, which if so would help out a lot.

But this doesn’t bother Spotify as it continues to grow and improve for it’s users. On Wednesday, Spotify released a minor update which allows users to Twitter via Spotify, how well does this work? If you haven’t been able to use this yet, it is recommended that you check to see whether the update (version 0.3.19.) was fully downloaded as some have had problems with this.
