Asus to Release Two New Seashell Eee PCs in the UK

If you can keep up with the myriad of different Asus Eee PC model numbers then you will be pleased to hear that Asus is adding two new models to its UK lineup the 1005HA and 1101HA. Both models boast excellent battery life and are the first in this super-slim range with replaceable batteries.
Asus will be releasing these Seashell style Eee PCs in the UK later this month. The 1005HA has a 10.1-inch LED backlit display while the 1101HA has a 11.6-inch display offering a 1366 x 768 resolution.
Asus commented that, “Both models will join the existing 1008HA model, combining an elegant and lightweight design with the latest mobile technology for a perfect combination of style and portability.”
The main difference between these two new models and the existing 1008HA is mainly battery life. Asus is claiming that the 1005HA has a battery life of up to 10.5-hours and that the 1101HA can manage 9.5 hours. This compares to the original Seashell’s measly 6 hours.
These machines are being released before the new Windows 7 from Microsoft is available, so at the moment they will ship with Windows XP. It will be interesting to see what Asus announces later this year about its operating system of choice.
As normal for the Asus Eee PC range these models will be available in black or white and come with 10GB of online storage space the Eee Storage web site.
For the more technically minded, both machines come with a 160GB hard drive, 1 GB of memory Wi-Fi 802.11n, optional Bluetooth 2.1, an optional 1.3MP webcam and three USB ports.
Pricing is yet to be fixed but our guess is that these machines will start at around £350.
