unlock removes simlock/netlock
jailbreak lets you use cydia/installer/icy to get some features like ssh, ftpservers. (It can also activate your iphone)

Actually Ultrasnow is the unlock not the jailbreak. The jailbreak will, most likely, be released tomorrow but I’m not sure about the unlock.

Bullshit: The new jailbreak is called “Ultrasnow” and will work on any iPhone 3G running 3.0.

Ultrasnow is the unlock.
QuickPwn & PwnageTool are the jailbreak applications

It’s brilliant how quickly the hackers are onto new software. Means I can upgrade my iPhone and steer well clear of O2. nice.
